News & Events - Microarray Analysis Press Release
Dr. Schena’s Microarray Analysis Textbook Tops Amazon.com Sales.
Sunnyvale, CA, March 1, 2004 – TeleChem International, Inc. announced that Microarray Analysis, a textbook written by the company’s Visiting Scholar Dr. Mark Schena, has risen to the top of the Amazon.com sales ranking for all microarray books. Microarray Analysis is published by J. Wiley & Sons and currently holds the top position on Amazon, moving as high as position 5,000 for all books sold on the Amazon.com site.
Dr. Schena seemed pleased by the finding. “The microarray field has grown very rapidly over the years, to the point where there are dozens of microarray books on the Amazon site. To have Microarray Analysis hold the top position is an honor, particularly given the quality of the other books and the competition in the field. The publisher and I worked very hard to assemble a textbook that would be embraced by a wide readership. Judging by the number one ranking of Microarray Analysis as well as the strong sales of some of the microarray reference books, particularly in the bioinformatics area, suggests that instructors are using Microarray Analysis as the main course text and supplementing MA with specialty books to expand critical areas. Our goal was to provide a solid foundational text in a new science area, and then to work with other authors to supplement special topics. The Amazon.com sales numbers seem to suggest this is happening, which was our goal when we started the project in 2001. To see Microarray Analysis selling better that some of the famous science textbooks out there is a personal thrill for me because many of those authors were my teachers.”
