ArrayIt® “goes green” with the sale of its Green Microarray Printing Pins.
Sunnyvale, CA, January 29, 2008 – On January 29th, TeleChem International, Inc. announced that the ArrayIt® Life Sciences Division had begun sales of its “green” microarray printing pin series that offers low uptake sample channels for a 60% savings in sample preparation costs. Green Microarray Printing Pins (see Figure 1) contain 0.1 µl sample loading channels compared to 0.25 µl for Professional, 946, Stealth and Chipmaker Pins, resulting in a considerable savings in the entire sample preparation chain including organic chemicals, enzymes, plastic ware, printing buffers, sample microplates and other consumables. Green Microarray Printing Pins are in keeping with the company’s policy of minimizing the environmental impact of its products and services. Green Pins are fully interchangeable with Pro, 946 and Stealth pins, which allows customers to purchase the new pin line without any other software or hardware changes to their existing microarrayers. Green Pins are available in Professional Series RM101 ultra-strong alloy, and with either 946 extended or regular Stealth pin collars. ArrayIt® expects brisk sales for this new product line among its existing base of 3,000 customers as well as with new customers. Green Microarray Printing Pins are fully compatible with the company’s widely used NanoPrint and SpotBot® 2 Microarrayers.
ArrayIt® founder and executive vice president offered his views on the new line of Green Microarray Printing Pins. “ArrayIt® brand products and services have always been pretty “green” but even more so now with our release of Green Microarray Printing Pins. The 0.1 µl loading volume uses 60% less sample per loading than any of our previous microarray printing pins, resulting in considerable savings in oligonucleotides, cDNAs, Taq polymerase, PCR purification kits, microplates, printing buffers, and other reagents. As our products and services become increasingly universally through the ArrayIt Microarray Platform, we are proud to offer a line of printing pins that are as environmental conscious as our customers. This is an important step for our company as for all of us in the Life Sciences as we collectively move towards a greener planet.”

ArrayIt® brand Green Microarray Printing Pins contain a 0.1 µl sample loading volume, offering a 60% savings in the cost of organic chemicals, enzymes, plastic ware, and other consumable items involved in microarray sample preparation. The company expects brisk sales from its Green Pins as it works closely with customers to further minimize the environmental impact of its products and services.
