TeleChem International, Inc. receives #11 ranking among Silicon Valley companies.
Sunnyvale, CA, May 16, 2005 – On May 12th, the Silicon Valley Business Journal honored TeleChem International, Inc. as one of the “Top 50 Businesses” in Silicon Valley. The Silicon Valley Business Journal is the valley’s leading source of breaking news on business trends, marketing, finance, entrepreneurship, company statistics and other matters essential to Silicon Valley’s dynamic economy. The Journal’s Publisher Vintage Foster presented the awards at the San Jose Marriott, with sponsorship for the ceremony provided by the National Association of Women Business Owners and Union Bank of California. The top public and private women-owned businesses in Silicon Valley were rated according to sales for fiscal year 2004. TeleChem International ranked 11th on the coveted list of the top 50 companies whose business activities span diverse industries including computer software and hardware, commercial real estate and construction, semiconductor technology, healthcare, and biotechnology. TeleChem was the only biotechnology company to make the list of the top 50. The number 1 ranking went to ASI Corp., a leading distributor of computer components and peripherals with annual sales of approximately $1.1 billion dollars.
René Schena, CEO of TeleChem International, Inc. commented on the award during a news conference after the ceremony. "We are very fortunate to have access to a wealth of talent in Silicon Valley, both in terms of employees and financial experts. As a pioneer in the microarray industry, the continued success of our ArrayIt® product line would be much more difficult without the support of top-notch institutions such as the Silicon Valley Business Journal, which make the Valley such a special place to conduct business. We have received a lot of media coverage both nationally and internationally, but local recognition enhances our sense of community support. Since our first major television appearance on NOVA’s “Cracking the Code of Life” in the spring of 2001, the phones have been ringing off the hook for our products and services, which are now used by a solid customer based of more than 4,500 regular accounts. We are pleased that we have been able to deliver on the ambitious promises we have made to our customers and the media. In the last 18 to 24 months, we have refined virtually our entire product line and added more than 100 new products to meet the needs of researchers in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academic and government laboratories worldwide. Our new microarray “chip” representing all of the genes in the human genome, as well as a strong move into personal and enterprise microarray instruments, novel surfaces and diagnostics will provide improved upside revenue participation looking forward. We feel very confident about our position.”
