News & Events - Silicon Valley 50 Press Release

TeleChem International, Inc. recognized as a leading Silicon Valley company in 2003.

Sunnyvale, CA, October 25, 2003 – On October 23rd, the San Jose Business Journal honored TeleChem International, Inc. as one of the “Fastest Growing Private Companies” in Silicon Valley.  The award ceremony was held at The Fairmont San Jose and was sponsored by Comerica, KRON4, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Land Rover.  The fastest growing businesses in the Silicon Valley technology hotbed were chosen according to sales increases for fiscal years 2000, 2001 and 2002. TeleChem International ranked 17th on the coveted list that included companies spanning diverse industries including financial and personnel services, software, insurance, real estate and construction, computer and semiconductor technology, and biotechnology. TeleChem International was one of only two Life Sciences companies to make the list in 2003.

René Schena, CEO of TeleChem International, Inc. placed the award in perspective during the ceremony at the Fairmont.  "This is an exciting time to be running a technology company, with all the revolutionary advances being made in the Life Sciences. We have been pushing our core competencies in the microarray industry, and this strategy has paid nice dividends. The market is extremely competitive both within the Life Sciences and in other sectors.  To be chosen as one of the fastest growing businesses in such a diverse marketplace is truly an honor.  Our ArrayIt® Life Sciences product line continues to represent a solid value proposition for the 10,000 laboratories that use our research products. To be able to compete with companies that are publicly traded says a lot about the quality of the ArrayIt® line. Our philosophy has been largely one of responding to the needs of our customers, rather than a top-down approach directed by management. As a private business, we are nimble and can move new products to market faster than many of our competitors.  We see 2004 as another bright year in terms of new products and improved technology.  Desktop instruments, new surface chemistries, an expanded line of pins and printheads, and an entire suite of proteomics products are some of the ArrayIt® products slated for release in the coming fiscal year."
